PREPARATION OF ACTIVATED CARBON-ZEOLITE COMPOSITES FROM RICE HUSK ASH

Rice husk (RH) is a biomass resource that contains about 20 mass% silica. In Southeast Asia countries, RH used as fuel for thermal power plants, and it produces large amount of ash (Rice Husk Ash: RHA), industrial waste. Furthermore, our research group has reported consolidated zeolite A could be prepared from RHA raw material. Zeolite hydrophilic micropore in the structure adsorption builder detergent. From processing point view, remaining carbon must removed before synthesizing A. However, utility not been studied sufficiently. present study, therefore, possibility usage both silica material was investigated high value-added application RHA. Before synthesis zeolite, activation treatment carried out under specific conditions to make become porous.
